Ironing Business
6 Answers
Hi, I'm starting an ironing business and am currently in the planning stages.
I wanted to know if anyone has used an ironing service, or if anyone has any advice regarding what worked well or what didn't work well with using the service?
Thanks

Since coming back to England I have made enqiries about ironing services but found that they all charge by the kilo. The lady I used charged by the item, which I found to be more economical (my opinion!) Everything came back on hangers (apart from t shirts) and covered in plastic film. I would use one again if they charged by the item.

Hi Fingerprint
I used a local ironing service until the company shut down recently.
They also charged by the amount of items, all came back with hangers and covered in polythene. It does help if the service is done quickly and items returned on the day you ask for them to be delivered. I certainly would use another company, especially for my duvet sets as hate ironing them
Good luck in your new venture.

Hi there,
Thought I may be able to give you some advice you need.
I set up my ironing company 10 years ago, which I now run with my partner. We charge by the hour, and also charge for delivery & collection.
Everything is professionally wrapped, labbelled named and numbered. This helps ensuring all the ironing is returned to the correct owners. We supply trouser guards, hangers, skirt clips, polybags, polywrap etc.
We have several people working for us. I just do the organising now. I did iron for about 60 hours a week when I started the business, but that's how I am where I am today. I have my own ironing done everyweek.
You may have to do quite alot of ironing yourself to start with until you get a good client base. Then you can employ someone to help.
Hope this has been useful...please feel free to ask any other questions that you feel you need to know.
