If someone responds to a phishing email and gives their details out, and then their bank account is subsequently emptied, are the bank likely to give them the money back? It's not me btw!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Bit of a grey area but generally I think the banks like people to use online banking so they seek to reassure, on that basis they would probably compensate in most cases if genuine. They would take each case on it's merits though and investigate the circumstances thoroughly to satisfy themselves that the customer is not fraudulent.
