I have recently been contacted by a third party company regarding an old debt (last contact Aug 2002)but the address they are quoting is not known to me. They asked for verification of the address. I contacted them and said I had no knowledge of the address. They are still contacting asking me to phone the office. Any advice/

It depends onw hether you owe this money or not. Is teh debt yours?
did they contact you by phone .....landline , if so dont give them your current , adrs, but they maybe able to source your current adrs....through council tax records etc.......if they pursue through , county court, then you will have to answer it, unless you want a ccj , and are not that bothered about ccj....... if they dont pursue through county court, they may still be able to record you as a debtor, who hasnt paid, once again , this is all at your discretion.......... u really have not made it clear whether, you actuallu owe them, or its a mistake.........

Good question factor!!!!!!
If the debt is yours...then contact them asap as they are within their rights to chase you for the money.
If however the debt isnt yours, then contact them...tell them they have the wrong person, and tell them to f***k off!!!! usually does the trick....
But basically..dont bury your head in the sand if you do owe the money, as these people do not go away!!
