I need to get a credit check on someone.

Where can I get one please (pref online).

Unless you are a regulated business you can't.

Why do you want to get one done?

You can always ask the person to get their own and then give you a copy.

Whilst you can't see CAIS information (the most useful part of a credit check) you can do a Voters Role check and you can search the register for County Court Judgements.

Let me know what information you want and I will provide links as to what information you can get and from where.

Wanted 2 actually. One for someone who owes me money (before I look at taking legal action). Other for someone who I believe is committing serious fraud.

For the first one, you can search the County court register here: http://www.registry-trust.org.uk/ (there is a cost involved)

This will let you know if he has any current judgements and if he does have a load you would have to then wonder if there is any point in legal proceedings as it will cost you money and the chances of you getting any thing back would seem remote.

With regards the fraud case, there is a database called CIFAS - though this is really only used between finance companies. What sort of fraud do you think he is committing?

You can pay a company to do this for you but, legally, you would need the permission of the person you are checking.

If you have suspicions of 'serious fraud' you should contact the police not a credit reference company.

Thanks for your replies. I am very frustrated at only being legally able to obtain my own credit reference. I will press on in small claim court.

On the credit card fraud issue I know roughly what has been happening with loads of details but with no concrete proof the police just were not interested. Looked up on google at what to do and it seems this should be reported to credit card company and NOT police? No wonder there are so many bent people on our streets eh? I know this fraudster is living a 'millionaire' lifestyle through this but as I say with no hard proof the police just won't even take details.
