Can someone who recently entered into an individual voluntary arrangemment with creditors, and has maintained payments for 1 year, become an appointed representative of a network company specializing in mortgages/loans to advise on mortgages. Will a credit check be carried out by that company? Will the check look for ivas or ccjs or both? . is it possible that the applicant may be regarded as not fit and proper for having an iva, even if there are no county court judgements or mortgage arrears?.

The network will carry out checks and you may be rejected. The theory is that if you are advising people on financial decisions then you will have been able to make these decisions clearly for yourself in the past - and not end up in financial difficulties.

Most networks will state that if you are up front with them, give valid reasons for the issues and they are a certain time in the past then they will consider your application.

I can see a current IVA being a HUGE issue for networks - more so than arrears or CCJ's.
I don't know the legal point of view but I wouldn't want someone who can't manage their own money advising me on how to mangage mine.

I would hope that their background would be checked out.
