Tax refunds

My self employed husband sent his tax return back in September and is due around �1000 refund from it. My question is when does that usually get paid back? I can't remember from last year

Anything from a week to about 6 weeks. He needs to ensure he's ticked the box (19) requesting that the overpayment to be sent to him, else the HMRC just keep the money in his account.

if you do it online you can expect to get the cheque within 10 days

Make sure you phone and ask the tax man cos unless you ask they don't refund, even if you've ticked the box.
