christmas day pay rates?

hi all,

my wife has been told she has to work on Christmas day (nights) and they have told her it will be time and a half??

is this right.......i was always led to believe it was treble time on Christmas day?

Yes it's right. There's no law about it - employers are free to do what they wish/can negotiate with staff.

They are under no obligation to pay anything extra at all.

If I had to work on xmas night I would get paid double for xmas night or new years eve, also transport paid for if you normally use public transport otherwise how can you get there.any Sunday should be time and a half.
She should ask her union whether she is a member of not.

Hi bill.
I also have to work over he Christmas period.
I am unsure if there are any hard and fast rules about this, but I will be paid double time and also a day off on another date to make up for working the Christmas holiday.
