28 hrs a week, 15,128 per annum, 25.5 hours per week, 13,777 per annum
15,128 & 13,777 respectively

Brilliant - thanks for your help!
I'm wondering whether to set up a website which does these sort of calculations.
It may help to set out here how to do these calculations.

Step 1- work out the annual salary for someone who works one hour a week.

In this case if the annual salary is 20,261 for a 37.5 hour week then the annual salary for a one hour week would be 20,261 divided by 37.5, which equals 540.29.

Step 2- multiply up by the appropriate number of hours.

So for 28 hours you multiply 540.29 x 28. This gives 15,128
I really don't understand how people get stumped by such basic math problems. This sort of question was in the 11 plus which I sat at 10.
Burger me a 20K job and cant do basic maths heaven help us lol
not every job that pays 20k requires abilities in Mathematics, however I would be interested to knwo what job this is?
Come on its only division and multiplication lol
granted. yet some people find mathematic problems difficult like some have difficulty spelling correctly. judging by some of the postings on this site, it would seem that spelling is a national emergency!
ETHEL , maybe some of us should go on a basic MATHS revision course....tootaloo

Oh well, I'm hopeless at maths, always have been and always will be but made up for it with my English. Have a well paid job as a freelance secretary working from home any hours I choose but am splitting from my husband and need a salaried job as well. Should end up with around 30K in total so yes, dumbo at maths I might be but I'm not complaining!! :-)

Blimey, I calculate that you must be expecting to work 55.5 hours a week to earn 30K based on the salary figures you quoted.
medsecslave you should have said you are going to be a maths teacher. lol
-- answer removed --
No, being a maths teacher doesn't pay enough

55.5 hours? No - I will have two jobs. The freelance work from home is a far better earner but the workload does vary and since I'm taking on a mortgage by myself, I need to have a guaranteed monthly income hence the part-time job as well.
