I need to hand my resignation into my boss today and i am very nervous. Any good suggestions as to how I should approach the subject?

Make sure your boss is alone, and don't mess about - say "I am sorry but I have to hand in my notice because (insert any reason you want to give). I have enjoyed my time here, and I will be sorry to leave". Your boss should respond with thanks, maybe a handshake, you leave the office, and proceedure takes its course. Don't panic, it's unlikely that this is the first time your boss has dealt with this issue, it's an occupational hazzard of employing people.
