One for the numismatists

I have recently come across two old silver coins - worn but legible - an 1865 Shilling (quite worn) and an 1853 sixpence (very worn). The actually came out of a roof truss in an old house (joiners used to do that sort of thing apparently to bring good luck). I have searched on the web and have values varying from �400 (collector site - mint coin) to �1 -(Ebay) - for anyone really keen I can post a link to a site where I can post images of the coins. Any ideas on value?

If they are in the condition that you say, ie quite/very worn, then they will be of little value (a few pounds at the most). The value of old coins tends to be in the condition and rarity. Sixpences and shillings of that period were common. Let me know if you find a 1933 one penny though .....
