A small ladies hairdresser business was sold approximately May 2008. The company title was Appleclear Ltd . trading as "Hair by Paul" 130 High Street, Rickmansworth, Herts, WD3 1BA.....How much was it sold for ?

The only way to find out is to ask the buyer or the seller. It was a private transaction between them and they have no obligation to tell you. Only a public company has an obligation to disclose this sort of information.

In 2002 the building at that address was sold for �290,000 by the look of it. Not the year you wanted but it may give you an idea.

Or if you're ever looking for another property that's not on that website, you can try put a request in to the Land Registry. For a small fee (we pay �3, but that's online) the title gives the current owner and the amount paid for the property.

The above information is only of help to you if the business owned the freehold of the premises. Most shops don't - they have a lease.
Even then it is kind of irrelevant because the value agreed for the sale of the business (including the freehold premisess) between buyer and seller has absolutely no bearing on the transfer price for just the asset itself - there is stock and goodwill.
