'ello! I've just started my postgrad course and i really really need to get to grips woth my spending etc! I'd like to set up something on Microsoft that i can enter my balance and day by day enter incoming and outgoing money so at the end of each month i can see what money i have left in my account and hopefully scare myself into not spending so much! lol anybody know any websites that will teach me to set up such a system or that provides you with one?! Cheers T x

thanks rox! but not sure how to use excel! lol ... some bizarre editing going on there Mr Answerbank editor!
Microsoft did a program a few years ago called Money... 98. This would pretty much do what you want. SHould be able to get it from carboots etc for 1. Alternatively, what you want should be available for a free dowload from ZDNET. (www.zdnet.co.uk)
MS Money 2004 is only 20 on Amazon and is brilliant - the older versions are all very well but might not work well on a newer PC. Te 20 you spend will repay itself many times over by helping you keep a hold on you finances.
There is a free online planner here:

or there are a couple of personal budget planner templates for Excel available to download from Microsoft:
