Hi guys, I have been without internet connection for over a month nearly and have just got it back. So I have gone through my emails and have found an ebay email saying that my direct debit has been accepted. I have not signed up for any Ebay direct debit - I have an account though. The Email is official because every other email from them has had the same address. So 1. how did they make a direct debiot with my account details when I have never saved them on my account. 2. what the hell can I do about it??? Thanku

See your bank immediately and cancel the Direct Debit.
Be careful- there are a lot of Ebay spoof emails out there. They make you open the email, and then in order to continue you have to paste in your username and password. Then the spoof people have your details. Did you reply to the email? Best send it to Ebay and ask if it is genuinely from them, and tell them your problem. [email protected] AND cancel the direct debit, if it actually exists.
Hehe, Ebay have been trying to charge some sellers fee's to my debit card for months. Despite the fact that they have the right card details they never charge me and then emoan becuase I've not paid. They told me that they have set up a direct debit too. Nothing has ever come of it.
If any Direct Debit has been set up - speak to your bank. Have them cancel it, tell them that you did not authorise it and ask for an "indemnity", which means that the bank will refund any money that has gone out of your account. From your description you are guaranteed to get any money back that may have gone out to ebay. Also - I agree with the spoof email concern. It goes without saying that you shouldn't enter your account/bank details in reply to any emails.

My point is is that they have somehow got my credit details when I have never given them out - I dont pay by card! How did they get them? I am aware of spoofs and I do not give my passwords away - so how has this happened
Genuine emails from most companies including Ebay, start with Dear . If they start 'Dear Customer' then 9 times out of 10, it is a spoof. You only have to respond once and you've had it.
