i have a torn �50 note and half the queens head is missng. can i change this at a bank for a new one?

I believe, but this may just be folklore, that so long as you have both serial numbers on the notes, you should be able to get it changed.
I think as long as you have at least 51%, then you're in luck!

As long as you have both serial numbers that match it is classed as tender and can be exchanged at a bank
The bank however are not obliged to accept it. But they usually will if you pay it in to an account. If you just say swap this please they may refuse as it cost them to get rid of it
