I checked my bank account this morning & it looks as if the DWP has credited me an extra 60, as an XB (extra benefit?). Has anyone else noticed this & if so, what is it for? My benefits are all paid to date, so I know it is not an error from previous payments.
You are probably one of the first to notice it happening but it was announced a month or so back - anyone in receipt of certain benefits to receive a one off extra payment of 60 by 31 March
It's to help with heating costs, not much I know but better than nothing.g.ps this is an extra other than the normal heating all/ which you would have got in December 08.
in november the pm decided to increase pension credit by5 this april. because of oaps struggling it was decided that they would get a one-off payment of 60 which covers arrears jan-march. he explained this on gmtv
pitstopbunny,
Yes it's the cold weather payment.I just got mine paid into my bank account today.
I wonder if we might get another if the weather stays very cold?(some hopes).
bigmamma,
Ethel's excellent link explains everything you could want to know.
The Cold Weather Payment kicks in when the weather station where you live has recorded or forecast temperatures to be, zero degrees Celsius or below over seven consecutive days.
This Xtra Benefit payment is NOT just for over 60's! I am 51 and in receipt of Incapacity Benefit and have just received my very welcome extra payment, much needed at the moment, for my now needed glasses prescription! No, contrary to what a lot of people think, if you get Incapacity Benefit you get free prescriptions! You do not get free prescriptions, glasses or anything else.
