The only way it can be done is if the government is defeated on a motion of no confidence or by losing the vote on the Queen's Speech or a vote on the finance bill or on some other important piece of legislation proposed in its manifesto.The government then resigns.
Of course,that vote requires a majority of MPs in favour, which is not likely given the number of Labour MPs there are.It has happened, most recently in 1979. Then the Labour government was defeated by 311 to 310 on a motion of no confidence.The result was a consequence of the SNP and some others voting against the government. An election was called. Labour lost.
But, naturally, it is always possible ,in theory, for their constituents or their local party committee to persuade any MP, even a Labour one, to support such a proposed motion.If enough MPs were so persuaded, then the government would fall.
