dilemma

I've put this in technology too
My son is hoping to get a part time job BUT it involves selling newspapers, selling lottery tickets, confectionery and cigarettes.
The problem is, as he is 16 he can sell all items except for the cigarettes - he has to get permission from the manager to do this. The manager is at the other end of the premises running a post office.
The dilemma is...... how can my son get the permission to sell the cigarettes without having to shout across to ask ever time a sale is to be made?
Can someone think of a way they can communicate easily? - he can't keep leaving the counter unattended to ask either.
They can't do it by phone (long story) so come on Abers - this is a tough one.
TIA

The manager also has to be able to see the person who is buying the cigarettes, as well as seeing your son. I wonder if they could fit one of those mirrors you see at the side of roads where there is a blind bend. With one of those the manager would be able to see both persons involved in the sale, and if there was also one at the manager's end he could give a hand signal to say it was OK. Just a thought, but it might be of help. Hope so.
thanks Schutzengel
Thats right too, the manager needs to see both my son & the person buying the cigarettes.
I don't know if the mirror would work but I'm grateful for all ideas - it's the only thing stopping him getting the job so far.
as far as I know theonlyone as long as the manager sees/gives permission, it's ok
I suppose it's like when you shop in a big supermarket, everytime a minor sells alcohol, they have to ask the older checkout person next to them first
