Dear Ed,
The Financial world is so complicated I resent spending time seaching for the meaning of various terminology, for example:- 'Preference' and 'ordinary' shares, hedge funds, primary and other types of mortgages, 'open ended investments', equity markets, the difference between recession and depression.

I had savings in a Shares ISA (previously a PEP) but, to be free of the frustrations of 'high finance', decided to get rid and cut my losses which were considerable.

My suggestion is that under Business and Finance perhaps there could be a sub-section for Definitions where ABers could seek explanation of various terminology. What do others think?

Ethel, thank you for this helpful reference, though just now I'm thinking financial investments are too complex to be bothered with!

...and Vinny, I share your 'confuzzlement' and enjoyed your HEDGE, BRIDGE, TREES, CHICKEN, BACON AND NESTEGG. Oh to get down to earth in the country!
