Social Security Disability and Child Support
When I was put on SSD, the checks for my son's behalf were automatically sent to his father, the primary parent. He has ten percent more custody. Issue is, the SSD checks for my son are three hundred dollars more than my child support obligation. Child Support Enforcement wrote a letter to my ex telling him that he needed to send the checks to them and they would dispurse the funds as per the Child Support Order. He chose to ignore their request, they said there was nothing more they could do and that I needed to hire a lawyer. Yeah, hire a lawyer living on SSD. It's been since 2004 now and my ex has gone to Brazil, Greece, All over the states visiting friends, bought two houses, three cars, and all along has been taking my son to second-hand stores for clothes and shoes. I've asked a few lawyers to take the case pro-bono, to sue for overpaid child support and adjust current child support to no avail. Every vacation my ex takes - which is about monthly - every time my son comes over because there's "no food at dad's" drives me crazy. My ex knows what he's putting me through and loves it because "money is the only way I can pay him back for leaving him". I've tried to talk to Social Security about it but since it is monies going to my ex they say they can't discuss it with me. Any ideas?
