I live in a block of two flats where I am the Freeholder of the building. The other flat pays me a peppercorn rent of 25.00 per year.

This means that I am responsible for getting the buildings insurance cover for both flats. Last year I just continued with the same policy as the people I bought the flat from. I now have to renew the insurance and I would like to shop around to try and improve on the renewal quote I have received. I have called companies like Direct Line etc and they say they don't do this kind of buildings insurance. Can anybody recommend companies who would do this type of insurance? Also what is this type of insurance called? I go through this long description to each company and it always ends "Sorry we don't do that kind of insurance".

Thanks for you help with this one.

Speak to any Commercial Brokers - can find them in the yellow pages etc. You essentially just want a block of flats policy - any commercial brokers will easily be able to do it for you at very little cost.
