housing problem,,proof of bank statements

i cannot get a bank account as im seriously in debt and blacklisted,i rent a private home of landlord,ive applied for housing benefit assistance,,the housing officer has asked me for previous 2 months bank statements so as he can assess my application...problem is i dont have any and a lot of banks have refused me an account because of my credit history,,the housing say they need these statements and cannot do anything untill i provide "something" im stuck!1 im now going to be thrown out by the landlord,...can anyone in the know advise me here please........

the housing benefit people must have come across others without bank accts, so go back and ask again what do you do in theses circumstances, ask to see the manager [or make an appt] dont tell me that all these immigrants that get help have bank accts when they first come here ?

hi there, i rent a private home off a landlord and i do not have a bank account, and am in receipt housing benefit. I have never been asked by them to provide any bank statements, i only had to provide my tenancy agreement, utility bill and proof of benefits letter so i cannot see why they are asking you for bank statements, have you been to citizens advice about this?? because i am sure no bank statements are needed for a housing benefit application, i hope you get sorted :-)
