My KFC employer doesn't want to pay my wages!!!

Dear All,
I have this problem:
In late December 2008 my wife and I both attended an interview at the KFC branch in Maidenhead, which resulted in an offer of employment for both of us. As we are both Romanians, I explained that we would need to tave authorisation from the UK Border Agency. I gave the manager of the branch the necessary forms, which we had already partly completed with our details and some informations provided by the manager.
While waiting for the authorisation to be given, we regularly enquired wether the forms had been sent off. We were always assured that they had. In February we were contacted and asked to attend the training in Slough. I again equired about the authorisation and was assured that everything was in order.
When we started the training, we were given other forms which we completed. I was placed on rota from Friday 20th February 2009 (and my wife from 21st). We completed approximatly two and a half weeks of work in Slough. On Friday 6th of March, when wages were being handed out, we were surprised to find that we were not being paid. When we asked why, we were told that the money would be paid into our bank accounts. On Wednesday, 11 March, I went into werk and was seen by the Area Manager, who advised me that our papers had never been sent and so we could not be employed. We would not therefore be paid.
We asked for our money at least again and again but they said thay cannot pay us.
We went to the Citisen Advice Bureau and they told us to send a letter to the company (we sent it already) to ask for some written explaination and after that to talk to a solicitor, if they still don't pay.
I would like to hear your advices.
Thank you!
Chris
