Tried (last week) to open an ING savings account, but they won't do it unless the 1st deposit is by CHEQUE from your current account - well I don't have a chequebook, I opted not to when I opened the account (who really uses chq's these days ?)
So I offered to make the 1st deposit by 1) Debit card 2) Direct transfer from my Acc, then finally by setting up a direct debit to pay a regular amount each month into it - but NO - ONLY A CHEQUE will do !!!!
How annoying & stupid is that ?
Bearing in mind it's a SAVINGS account !!!
(they say it's to prove that the info you've given is correct)
Duh ??????
