any advice on where to get the best rate ? I have 2 weeks before I go.should it be cash or t/cs ? the amount will be approx �1000.
help/advice appreciated, the rate is soooooo bad at the moment.

The best general answer is an ATM when you get there. Getting cash here will work out not far from the same cost - the better exchange rate from the ATM normally covers any charges for using it..

Travelex online usually offer a good rate (pay by card, pick up at the airport). Provided the card you use doesn't charge for the transaction (all credit cards charge and some but not all visa debit cards do) this will get you most $$ for your �. However, if the card charges it wipes out the saving from their better exchange rate.

But you should contact your card company before going abroad, or they might just block it if it is used overseas.

Also bare in mind that not all cards are exceptable in the ATMs in the us.. I tried to get cash out of an ATM in las vegas and I could'nt ...luckily i was in a casino who's cashiers can be very helpful when it comes to getting you money out of your account.. they said that the reason I could'nt use my cards was because it did'nt have a "cirrus" logo on it they phoned my bank and transfered money for me.. but it cost about �40 to get $1000

tks for that sammo,always whery of relying on a card, once went to Florida whilst living in the Middle East many moons ago and there had been a bank scam so everywhere refused any cards from the Middle East and we were stuck until money was wired through to us, the rate yesterday was a tiny bit better, bring back George Bush and the excellent rate we used to get.
