just posted a similar question earlier today i need to know if people on contribution based job seekers allowance can get help with mortgage ive looked about but it just says people on income based jobseekers or income support i have no savings at all and have been claiming benefit for about 20 weeks
No you can't get any help. The link in your previous post clearly states that it must be income based JSA or income support. If help was available for contribution based JSA then it would say so.
Contribution based JSA is not means tested so in theory you could have 15K stashed away and still try and claim for mortgage relief.
If you still don't believe me, you need to phone the Job Centre Plus tomorrow and ask them.
so everyone who has had a job and got made redundant arent entitled to help because contribution based is what everyone who has worked goes onto so when exactly am i entitled to help
You only get contribution based for 6 months, after that you will go onto income based if you are eligible. You really need to contacts the JCP helpline and ask them.
Cheeky Chops is wrong. You claim CBJSA and at the same time you give information about your housing costs, and about your remaining income (if any), spouses income (if any), savings etc. - i.e. all the information needed to claim IBJSA. If the result of the calculation from this information is that you are entitled to help with housing costs, then you start getting it 13 weeks after the date of your claim - i.e. while you are still on CBJSA
If you were not asked for all the information I mentioned when you did your CBJSA claim, go back to the jobcentre and raise the issue with them, because there is no doubt that you can get housing cost help after 13 weeks on CBJSA (if your financial circumstances satisfy the regulations).
If you get the runaround, go to the local CAB for help.
