how much cash can you take from UK to India?

I am flying from Uk to India, how much cash is allowed as per custom regulations in the UK, which i can take along with me on the flight?

As far as I can remember, you can't buy Indian currency outside India. But I could be wrong, but this link would appear to confirm:

You can take as much cash out of the UK as you like. The only restriction is that if you take out more than the equivalent of �10,000 (currently around �8,750) you're obliged to fill in a declaration form:
