Credit Unions

I am a member of a Credit Union in Northern Ireland and have a couple of questions to which I would appreciate answers. Is the Credit Union movement in Ireland linked with any Bank in the same way as certain Building Societies or The Post Office and Banks are linked? Are Credit Unions included in the Government's (North or South) Guarantee Scheme? Thanks.

That's an interesting question.
Credit Unions in NI are controlled by these people: -
Registry of Credit Unions, 8 Laganbank Road, Belfast.

The regulation is different between north and south, but clearly if the scheme is applicable, it is going to be the UK Government's �50k scheme that works in NI.
I searched their website but could get the answer for you - maybe someone else can.
