my credit rating..
2 Answers
my credit rating has always been absolutely fine, and then I bought my laptop! buy now, pay next year.
I had to sign a finance deal with HFC bank and, so long as I paid in full within 12 months, it was interest free, otherwise they would put me onto monthly payments with an extortionate interest rate. I paid it in full with my direct debit card the week before it was due.
then I got a letter from HFC saying I'd missed my first monthly payment, which I ignored.. and then another saying I was incurring so much interest for my missed payments. I called them, they made up some nonsense about my payment being late (it wasn't), then returned (it wasn't) and then they waffled so much that they lost me. I asked for a full statement and it shows that I missed 2 payments, incurred interest, and then shows a settlement of £155 (no idea!) which cleared the account. it's all rubbish!
my question is, will this have affected my credit rating? HFC say no, but admit they messed up and that my account was cleared in time. they don't seem to be able to send me a statement showing the true facts. I don't really want to pay for a credit check, but can't think what else I can do.
thanks, and sorry for waffling! :o)
