One would have to be out of their mind, not to attach the word 'savages' to these individuals?

Today Somalia, 'tomorrow' who knows?

AOG.....perhaps in 100yrs that scenario will give a completely new meaning to the place of "Stonehenge" ;-)
Didn't Jesus save a 'woman taken in adultery' by saying 'let him who is without sin cast the first stone'? Some aspects of Islam seem to be 2000 years behind the rest of us.
I would call the action barbaric, but not call the perpetrators savages because that has racists connotations (as has been pointed out the several other times you call black people savages)..

Would you support the bringing back hanging in this country, were you given a referendum?
We usually hear about these things happening to women...
FORGIVE ME BUT IT IS 2009 ISNT IT NOT 100 BC????
I bet there's not much adultery there.
So you have been told that the word savages causes offence to people, but you still like to use it.

Interesting.

I am not particularly interested in the rights or wrongs of the use of the word - but if I say something and some one tells me that they find it offensive, I don't use the word in front of them. I have a friend who finds it offensive to use God's name in vain - guess what, I go to great lengths to avoid using one of my favourite phrases (Jesus Christ) when in front of him. It seems strange that you decry modern day manners, but go to great lengths to be as inconsiderate as possible.
Sqad, people already get stoned at Stonehenge, just not to death ;-)
Barbaric

We all know the correct punishment is to be beaten to death with a golf club!

Or is that beaten to death with a cricket bat for burglars?
So why is adultery less common in Islamic countries than our modern Western society.

It is less common....isn't it?

The problem with adultery, is not the act, but being found out.
daffy ;-)

Sqad....because of what happens when you're caught...ie link :-)
This does seem to be unusual, normally they stone women to death for having the audacity to be raped. Still nothing surprises me from the religion of peace!
Think William summed it up perfectly when he wrote:

"He doth protest too much".
Can someone please tell our politicians these backward countries can behave as they wish without us interfering. We are not the world's policemen. When the Chilcot enquiry findings are produced the lessons learnt should say don't meddle in other countries affairs. Al qaeda was never a threat to the UK before the Iraq war but because Blair dragged us into it has resulted in all the British deaths.

The home grown terrorists didn't exist before. We have made them what they turned out to be.
Pardon? - its the Daily Mail making a meal of this - not our dearly beloved Gordon and team.
Yeh I agree these militants engaged in a totally uncivilized savage act. Although why anyone would want to sleep with that guy I don't know - she must have been desperate?
I don't see why, as Gromit says, the word 'savage' has racist connections. Politically correct or not, anyone capable of joining a baying mob to stone a man to death is a savage - whether he be black, white, green or purple!
so you think what happens in Somalia today happens here tomorrow?

I wouldn't mind seeing some evidence of that.

zzxxee, why would it be 100BC in a Muslim country? If you stop and think what 'BC' stands for... It's not 2009, either.
