if i get a deed of separation does it mean i have to get a divorce

All it does is lay out legally who gets what etc when you seperate, divorce does not have to follow automatically;or at all if you both do not wish it.
Basically all it does is to make legal the conditions that you will both apply to the marital seperation,and it stops (hopefully) any financial/personal/family disputes during the seperation.
This of course may be different in Scotland,I am not a legal person,so I hope someone who is can confirm my opinion (or otherwise).
