How can that be robbery when you were trying to spend the bank's money without their permission? Are they psychic? How can you expect them to know for sure your money would go in the next day?
Why do you think it's okay to spend money that isn't yours?
You agreed to the terms and conditions.
Not much to choose between them. Lloyds has more branches - but with A&L you can do your banking at a Post Office. (you can with Lloyds though...)

The disadvantage of A&L is that it's not yet clear what merging with Santander will mean for account facilities. More branches to use - but will that be at the expense of losing the Post Office facility?
my current account is with lloyds and i have an isa with AL, and based on the amount of time you have to wait for a phone call to be answered and the kind of response you get when the phone is answered i would go with lloyds over AL.
I believe the A&L name will disappear completely over the next few months. All the A&L and Abbey branches are being rebranded as Santander so there isn't much point in considering A&L as a separate entity.

Thanks for the answers. I have a cash account with Lloyds TSB and want to upgrade it to a classic account. Do I have to have my salary paid into it to be able to do the upgrade?
The answer will be on the Lloyds TSB site
