If I apply for carers allowance for looking after my dad will he lose his pension credits.

To qualify for CA, there are qualifying rules one of which is that the person you are caring for must be in receipt of a qualifying disability benefit.you getting CA will not affect your father's PC, because you are the claimant.

I forgot to say that my dad already gets attendance allowance as he is 85 and has had 2 strokes and is partially blind.
I will have a wee look at the website.

If your father lives by himself then he should be getting a disability premium on his Pension Credit. If you claim Carers Allowance he would loose this. You had better check what he is receiving.
