for Pension Credits and Income Based JSA, anything over £6k will start to reduce your benefits. £16k is the cut off point. if you have a partner this will be the total of your capital.

savings means any monies you (both) hold.
As you are over 60 you should claim pension credit if entitled to it (not job seekers allowance). There is no savings limit for pension credit, but the amount of your savings can affect the amount you get. If you get a job this will also affect it. You need to contact the pension service to make a claim. I'm surprised the job centre can't advise you on this - they certainly ought to be able to!
I HAVE JUST BEEN TAKEN OFF PENSION CREDIT AND PUT ONTO PENSION CREDIT SAVINGS CREDIT AND THE AMOUNT HAS BEEN REDUCED BY £7.07 PER WEEK OR £28.28 PER MONTH IN WHICH OTHER WAYS WILL I BE EFFECTED AS REGARDS TO HOUSING BENEFIT/COUNCIL TAX SUPPORT AND DENTAL AND EYE CARE SUPPORT
