How can I calculate holiday entitlement for someone leaving part way through the year?

Hi All

Do you know of a standard calculation used by HR deprtments to work out holiday entitlement for someone leaving part way through the year?

My friend is entitled to 25 days per annum and her leave year runs from 1st January 2010; her last working day will be 15th April 2010. How can we work out how many days she is entitled to take/get paid for holiday?

Has she got a calculator? A pro rat calculation should give an answer.
If bank holidays are simply taken as they arise then she has 25 days personal holiday a year. She could get a pro rata amount for the 15 weeks in the year. So multiply 25 by 15/52. I'll leave you to get a calculator. However it depends on whether the calculation is based on full months- she may only get 3/12ths of her 25 days.

As above.
Some organisations do accrue based on 'whole months worked'.
Whilst others do the calculation, then round up any fraction of a day greater than .49 but round down a fraction of a day of .49 or less.

The link doesn't seem to work, TCL-M, but I think this site will just tell you the statutory minimum figures. Lily's friend seems to get well above the statutory minimum so the exact calculation will depend on her firm's policy regarding part months.
