Currency for Prague

I appreciate that the currency for the Czech Republic is the crown but as I will be there for only a couple of days I wonder if they are likely to accept Euros and Sterling.

Yes they will accept both went a few years ago on the coach back to the airport we found out 11 people had been targeted by pickpockets be careful !!!!!!!

I went to Prague a couple of years ago. Its a fabulous city, you can see everything within a weekend, its very compact. We had to use the krona (I think thats right) there were very few places accepting euros, I don't remember any-perhaps some clothes shops. Its quite cheap, maybe you could estimate what you would spend minimum then take the correct currency and some euros. We took £200 for a long weekend, ate out and went somewhere every day and came back with pressies and about £80. Have a fabulous trip!

Accepting euros and pounds and accepting them at a non-ripoff exchange rate are two different things.

I am sure touristy places will be 'happy' to take any of the three currencies.

Be careful entering buildings, on buses etc. If someone in front of you stops suddenly, drops something etc, assume someone behind you is a pickpocket, we lost a camera at Prague Casle this way from a bag. It also happened on the Metro in Barcelona but my husband was aware this time and he might even have broken the guy's finger in his back pocket.
In answer to your question we found most restaurants, shops etc in Prague would take Euros, though we got a better rate using krone.

Yes I'd go with the koruna. Don't worry anymore about pickpockets etc than you would in Britain, just be sensible and you'll be fine. It's a very walkable city and you can have a nice time investigating various little backstreets and quiet picturesque squares. Just out of the city centre, the Holsevice exhibition complex on Vystaviste is worth a look - bizarre muddle of buildings/parks of various vintages with an aquatic theatre in the middle.

My sincere ( although late thanks ) to all contributors, I haven't had access to the computer for a few days.
The best advice for me seems to be, take the local currency and watch my pockets.
