Unwanted payment demand
2 Answers
I have just received my credit card bill which has an unexpected demand for an amount of money to an identity protection programme I had last year. Following 9 months of being helped by the Citizens Advice Bureau to get my finances straight after being badly in debt this has come as an unwanted shock. The company claim they sent me a letter in March saying payment will be taken unless they hear otherwise. No letter was received by myself. The company refuse to reimburse any of my money as I have gone past the 14 day cooling off period and the first I knew of this was receipt of my bill which I budget for and proudly clear the little on it each month. What action can I take to get any of my money back? Can I contact my credit card company and state this is an unwanted request and ask to refuse payment? Any help will be gratefully received as each week is a struggle to make ends meet without this bill as well. Thank you.

take it up with your credit card company. mine cancelled and refunded a payment, where my details were passed on to another company who just helped themselves.
it's worth a try..

It wil be a continuous Credit Card Authority (CCA) which you can't stop. It's not a good idea to take these out I'm afraid. You will have signed up for it to be renewed each year unless you cancel at renewal. It may be difficult to avoid payments for this year but you should make sure you cancel it for next year.
How much is it? This Identity Protection cover is usually not worthwhile.
You could ask your credit card provider but they will probably say the CCA terms were followed properly.
