Tipping the barber (not a euphemism)

I had my hair cut a couple of days ago, zero setting all over; it takes less than 2 minutes, with very little tidying up at the end, and costs £8.

Usually I hand over a tenner and tell them to keep the change but this time I kept the £2 because I'm feeling a bit skint this week (and it was the miserable woman this time). But I've been feeling a bit guilty about that since.

So what do others usually do in this circumstance? Not give a tip or, if so, how much? The haircut works out at well over £200 per hour so should a tip still be expected?

blooming eck eddie, i´ve used about 4 different barbers in 4 years in spain, and i dont expect the haircut to take me more than 10 mins, 15 tops. and they do a good job.
Hairdressing isn't just a service. it's a 'feel good' factor too. If you feel glamorous/well groomed when you're finished, you've had more than a standard service. Tip accordingly or your cost may rise next time you call.
greedyfly - but surely doing a good job should be a given...it should be the norm, be expected...

if a taxi driver gets you to the place you wanted to go - can you really say hes 'done a good job'? surely hes just done what is expected of him, the bare minimum of what you are ALREADY PAYING him for...??

if he carries my bags etc then i will tip...but thats because its not necessarily part of the job and they are not obliged to do that...
Bibblebub - why did you say "not a euphemism"? It doesn't quite fit the rest of the sentence.
