Hi,

Half way through the week - yippee!

I was checking through some previous posts and found this one that a few of you commented on, http://www.theanswerb...Question882156-5.html

I told pastafreak I would give an update on how I got on, so I am pleased to say it is going well. I have had a photo published in a tourist guide, photographed 2 charity nights and also a band playing in the city. I have been offered a part time job with a tour company taking photos for them and have also been taking family photos and portraits of children and been making pennies from it.

Thanks for all the comments and advice given previously, it helped me on my way :)

that's terrific. Your photos were very good. Maybe you'll make enough out of it to live on? Best of luck.

I hope so jno, I have my regular job at the moment to keep a steady income and do photography in evenings and weekends to make a bit extra. Hopefully the work will keep rolling in and I'll be able to do it full time.

Here's a link to my latest photos (only if you want a nosey) :)

I'm so pleased for you CAJ1...you have a real talent, and it should not be hidden.
Answerbank could do with a dedicated topic where posters like you can have 'mini-galleries' of their work.
Beautiful photos Caj, well done...I expect you've got a very expensive camera?
Question Author
Thank you pastafreak.

That's a great idea! Also, if the photographer agreed, you could use the photos for avatars if you wanted.

Thank you Robinia. I have a Nikon D3000, expensive enough especially when you start buying additional lenses etc. I'm saving the money I'm making from photos so I can upgrade
Hi CAJ,

I love your website, some great pictures. On the Places section some of the shots look like Kintyre, are they? well done with the progress you're making you should do well. x

Hi Mazie,

Glad you like the website. You're close, a lot of the photos in "Places" are from Northern Ireland, sometimes I can see Scotland when I stand on the coast. Thank you for the vote of confidence! x
I've just posted a request in 'Suggestions'....... ;-))
Question Author
I posted a comment under it :D
They are so similar to the Kintyre peninsula CAJ...I really was convinved they were. We go to Kintyre a lot and from Southend we can see Northern Ireland, I believe its about 14 miles away !!
those are great, especially the ones of kids - they've got real character.

Here's some I took earlier... no kids in them, though, just German scenery

You'll have to let me know when you are next there Mazie and we can wave at each other!

I can't open them for some reason jno, it might be my crappy dongle so I'll try from the computer in the office tomorrow.

I had some more good news, I had an email this afternoon asking if I would be available to take photos at 2 specially organised evenings at the main cinema in Belfast!!!
that's strange, I can't open them either, CAJ - they were there yesterday...

Anyway, that's great news - keep it up!
Will do CAJ... I dont think we'll be going again now until next April.

nice pictures jno. I can only open the 2nd and 4th one though!
CAJ ...

The tones and colour balances in your photos are exquisite. I love them.
Question Author
I could only open the 2nd and 4th one too, but great photos, the scenery there looks beautiful, the one of the castle is my favourite. What camera did you use?

Thanks JJ :o)
weird... the photos are there, they're just downloading incredibly slowly, I don't know why. I'm going to try again on a different site...

Sorry, CAJ, all I'm doing is diverting attention from your own work, which is not only better but you're making money from it. I've just got a Panasonic Lumix with a big zoom, not real professional standard. The one thing I do like about compact cameras is the all-in-one lens - when I had a film SLR, I was always having to swap lenses to get the photo I wanted (and sometimes missing it while I did so).
see them now jno. Love the second one....fab building and great shot. x
