without them knowing?

My friend is convinced that her husband is trying to do that (they are in the process of splitting up but still live in the same house)

Thank you

Do you mean off the title deeds?
Not legally.
no. I tried to remove my ex-husband with his permission... bloody nightmare!

Hi vibes, I thought you were leaving. Glad to see you're still here though

It could be done by use of forged signatures - and collusion with a witness or forging their signature as well.

But legally - no

Hell no, changing anything to do with a mortgage is a bloody nightmare. The wife and I bought our house together before we were married. We thought it would be a simple matter to change her surname on the mortgage when we got married but no, not a bit of it. If we wanted to change it we had to incur several hundred pounds of legal fees. They said they didn't actually require it to be changed so it wasn't and it still hasn't six years on. The mortgage will remain jointly in her maiden name until it is paid off.
Best think she can do is ask the mortgage company, surely!

Vibes...you seem shocked about how much it cost me to put a name on the mortgage. £700 the robbing so and so's.

Standard Life Bank. I suppose it may have been an ill informed halfwit on the end of a phone but ultimately it doesn't really matter. I don't have much intention of doing anything about it. It will be paid off before I need to do anything else with it.
As usual Vibrashpere is full of sh1te. You can only remove someone from a mortgage if he lender agrees. They will only agree if they satisfy themselves that the remaining mortgagee satisfies their lending conditons and the land registry entry is amended to remove the person concerned. Effectively in this case it would require that your friend signs over her share of the equity, which I don't think she would do without compensation, and that the lender would have to agree to lend the full amount to the husband alone.
R1...you seem to have read it wrong. Vibes is talking about changing the name from maiden name to married name in response to skylines post.

I bet you don't apologise though...!!!!
No I will apologise vibes if that is the case, I thought you where talking about the original question. You can be Cher if you like.
Fair play...but didn't Vibes want you to be Cher?
