Just been to tesco photo booth for passport renewal pics.... had numerous attempts at getting seat the right height, place head in oval it said, I couldnt see the oval. Spent £5 for a photos that are "unsuitable for passport". Anyway, I look like a convict in them, so no country would let me in. Then I went to photographers , another £5, for another set of criminal pics!!!!!! The photographer laughed, went to the Post Office to get the passport forms checked and sent off. The assistant in the PO laughed as well. Now Im depressed.

Ha ha ha.
passport style photography is always the most unflattering set of pictures you can own, I try not to look at mine, it doesnt matter who it is they always look grim
get husband or someone else at home to take them; as long as you have the right background and no hair over your face, and DON'T SMILE they should be fine. Take lots and just find one you like.
my passport photo is a photo of me (I know this, because I was there), but I don't look like that............
My OH's passport photo actually looks OK. It's one of a few where his face doesn't look sunburnt...
Just got my passport back, and I agree passport photos all look crap. The problem with taking them yourself is they might not fit the required spec for the new style passports. I had mine taken at the post office and the guy checked them for me, they use a clear overlay with more crosses and lines on then enough indicating the position of your eyes, nose etc, apparently they'll even refuse your application if your signiture is touching the side of the box you sign in
