Divorce in the 1930's
Could anyone tell me the minimum time it would take for a divorce to come through in the early 1930's.
I have the marriage of Porter Dickenson to Edith Barker married Edith Barker in 1930,in Wakefield.
Then in 1932 he marries Gladys Draycott in Hull and Edith Barker Dickinson marries William Jones In Middlesbrough the same year.I know nothing about divorce laws but it just seemed very quick. Thanks Polly.

Thanks Dot,I was just being curious really when I did the search,as Mary (Liilian)the daughter of Porter and Edith is one of my clients and she said she never knew her father, she didn't have any contact with him after her parents split. She thought her father was buried in York, but the only death I could I could find for a Porter Dick(e)inson was in Lancashire, so I thought I would do a bit of digging to see if I could find a bit more.I can't find his birth anywhere either. She was always led to believe that her mother never married William Jones and yet Mary's maiden name on her marriage is given as Jones so I assume her mother had it changed when she married William.I will see if Mary wants me to go further with it and perhaps order the marriage certificates. Thanks again Polly
