I recently applied for Critical Illness Cover and was turned down. Legal and General didn't even inform me of this, I had to email my mortgage company months later!! Do you know if it is therefore impossible for me to get insurance? Are there other companies who would take my money? I would have thought Legal and General would have at least have offered me a very expensive policy- or are all companies clamping down now?

They must consider you a bad risk., Ie likely to get a "critical illness". Don't worry they nearly always welsh on paying anyway they've done you a favour.

There has been a lot of changes in legislation recently (14th Jan) and lots of things are changing in the insurance market. I would wait 3-4 months and then reapply.

Also, all companies have their own criteria - just because oneturns you down, doesn't mean another will.
