Below this question you will find post after post of unadulterated bile.
Why? It is not hard to remove this nonsense.
Posters on here are treated like children, basically being told to mind their own business when they question something.

Are the doing a good job, should I mind my own business?

well this weekend has highlighted the need for weekend mods to have post removing powers
1.No.

2. For your own sanity, probably yes.

I'm not sure what your point is, Akinator. Are you simply saying these posts should be removed?
I expect they will be but maybe only the Ed can do this and maybe he's off duty, so all the mods can do is suspend. The are doing a good job of suspending quickly.
Maybe when a poster of this nature comes on the Ed should put a temporary block on new users- even if it's only for half an hour. However I know that weekends is also a good time to attract new members through Q&P
ignore the troll, its the same boring drunk as before

Some posts should be removed instantly factor30.
It would not take a genius to spot the ones that need removing instantly.

I thought having moderators would be a good idea cazzz1975, it does not seem to have worked. Moderator and mixing with posters is causing it's own problems.
I have to agree with this sentiment Akinator
its early to say it hasnt worked akinator, if they gave the moderator the power to remove reported threads then it would be deemed more of a success.
the troll has his arse in his hands this week because he believes jackthehat to be a moderator.

factor30. I believe that placing a temporary block on new users to prevent the trolls, would not work. They would simply register and then lie low for a couple of weeks, insert an avatar and then they can join in as they wish. Users as moderators seemed a good idea but as proven this weekend, even moderators can overstep the mark with suspensions -someclearly justified, others puzzling.

They should have the power to do that cazzz, that is a given for anyone with common sense.

I have read a few posters expressing concern over the moderators ability to be impartial, I too share that concern.
I don't believe JTH is a moderator btw and is she were, she would certainly be an impartial and fair one
well they only have their "powers" for the weekend so any wrong doings would be put right on monday, any issues with a mods ability to be impartial would probably result in a loss of the moderating priviledge.
sir-prise...

They have to make certain amount of Q's and A's before they can get an Avatar..
this is a free site, so I don't suppose there's enough income to provide 24/7 armed guards. I believe there is a weekend editor, but perhaps he/she is on noliday at the moment. At any rate, it's not policed round the clock at present and I don't suppose it will be any time soon. The idea of citizen moderators seems a good one - trolls are being suspended very quickly, even if their posts aren't removed. Perhaps suspension should also involve automoatic removal of posts until the Ed has investigated.
ummmm yes you are right, point taken. But then of course an avatar isnot essential. I've been a member since 2006 and still do not use avatars.
People seem to be being suspended pretty quickly so either the mods are doing their stuff, or the posters are falling foul of the "5 consecutive posts in so many minutes" rule. As has been said, only the Eds can remove posts or ban people altogether. All we can do is keep on reporting ones which offend us.
"However I know that weekends is also a good time to attract new members through Q&P"

However, this isn't the only avenue open to those unable to complete their crosswords.
overall I believe the moderating has been successful, the thing I would add to next weekends installment would be the power to remove suspended posts. If the ed does that then no one will complain, the site will be clear of trolls and their bile.
