Pay pal problem
I have a spurious payment on my paypal account.
I am trying to sort it out but cannot get into paypal.
I keep getting a "security page" which says I have been chosen randomly for security check, and to enter my full credit card number!
I am not happy with this but I cannot get into paypal to sort it out.
I cannot even get a phone number to speak to a real person, I just get the virtual agent.
Does anyone know if this a genuine request for my credit card details, and does anyone know how i can speak to someone on the phone?
Thanks.

Scroll right down to the bottom of the page and look on the right hand side,
there is an option that says "Contact us by phone or email"
click on that, and the rest is self explanatory.
It does sound dodgy to me, and I wouldn't give them any sensitive information.
Speak directly to paypal and take their advice, they have always been very helpful with me.

I'd be very suspicious of this.
Call paypal (as above) but you may also want to be running a full scan with malwarebytes as it's sounds highly likely that you are infected with some malware that's redirecting you to another page and trying to scam your CC details from you.

willowman, there is a spam email going round, I had one the other day - it told me there is a problem with a payment to someone I've never heard of.
Don't do anything, don't click on the link in the email - just FORWARD the whole thing to their phishing email account which is [email protected] - they like to hear if people are being phished, they will get back to you if it's a trick.
I only ever go into Paypal via their web page, clicking on a link in an emai is very risky, Paypal don't ever ask you to enter details via an email link.

Thanks everyone for your answers.
Managed to contact paypal via customer service phone number.
Believe it or not the page is genuine and is part of their security system. The guy on the phone agreed it looked dodgy but said thats what they did.
Problem is now sorted. It was a valid claim, don't know what happened, but money is being sent back to me.
Full av check done - AVG, malaware, spybot - nothing showed up. Cancelled the debit card used. So all should be ok.
Once again, thanks

I did get the phone number from the internet, and before I managed to ring them I also got another email from paypal to say that a limitation had been placed on my account because of the recent transaction.
This was confirmed by the guy I spoke to, and the limitaton still applies.
I have since had another email stating that the my claim was genuine and the money will be returned to my bank account.
So it all looks very genuine, but at the time was a bit scary, especially as the request for my card details came up even when I logged in via their correct website.
I can only imagine that the reason for picking me for a "random" security check was because of the sudden large transaction on my otherwise seldom used account.
So, lets hope all is OK. As I said, AVG, Spybot and Malaware found nothing......so fingers crossed.
