Cant find photos on Samsung Galaxy?

When I plug in my Samsung Galaxy note into my PC it automatically opens a window showing my "memory card" or "phone memory" and I can choose between the two to access either one. When carakeel plugs her identical phone in to her PC it does not come up with the same options and it can take a while to locate pictures and will often just show empty folders. any ideas anybody?
