My daughter has just tried to use her Nectar Points to buy her shopping in a Sainsburys in Southampton. They wouldn't accept them until their Customer Service rang the store in Northumberland to verify she was genuine.
I thought Nectar Points were universal and could be used anywhere. Am I wrong?
Q. Can I spend Nectar points straight from my card at any Sainsbury's store?
A. Yes, you can spend your points at any Sainsbury's store providing you've used your card there within the past twelve months. If you're using a store for the first time, just use the card to collect at least 1 point and 24 hours later you'll be able to spend points.
I didn't know that either. Surely, simply collecting one point doesn't prove anything.
I take it they are checking that she hadn't stolen it but it just seems very strange to me.
Yes you can but if it is not the shop you normally use they have to check to make sure the card has not been stolen.
Have had this a few times when my mum used her nectar points in our local shop, but once it has been done you should have no difficulty doing it again.
To be honest They really should get their act together as there must be hundreds of shoppers who will use their points while they are away visiting over christmas grrrr.
