I have just tuned in to ch4 comedy gala so see how this pans out before I'm reaching for the remote
I put it down to the proverbial ‘generation thing’ – having grown up with people like Ben Elton and Billy Connolly.
I always thought the majority of ‘alternative’ comedians like Alexei Sayle were brutally unfunny, and also have no time for the modern crop – Sarah Millican, Michael McIntyre and so on; I couldn’t smile if you paid me.
But I guess they are aimed at people who walk round with a phone glued to their hand – that’s just not me, never mind.

Agree andy modern crop are dire Sarah Millican a chore to watch I try to avoid them but they all seem to crop up on TV shows chat shows etc!
I don't like any of todays comedians. We switch over when Miranda Hart comes on, she gets her laughs from her pratfalls which after the first two become boring. John Bishop seems to be a nice enough bloke but I haven't actually sat and watched his act.
I find Michael McIntyre and John Bishop very funny.
I'm with andy on this, can't stand Sarah Millican, Michael Macintyre or Miranda Hart. I do like Jack Whitehill, especially when he has his dad with him. I find Ken Dodd totally unfunny, although I'm probably in the minority!
Some people just find some comedians funnier than others, I don't think it's a 'today' thing.

Samurai finds MM and JB funny, I find them utterly boring.
Samuraisan... I find Michael McIntyre and John Bishop very funny.

I do as well, I didn't realise Sarah Millican was a comedienne.
Not everyone has the same taste, at first I couldn't understand Billy Connelly his language is a bit ripe, but I found him funny.
No time for Miranda Hart , I love Kevin Bridges , Rhod Gilbert and Peter Kay
Billy ConnellyThe Wildebeest sketch

Don't ask me
I don't have a sense of humour
Not even a twitch Daisy?
She must have, gran. She's a Villa fan like me ;-)
The BBC have skewed the comedy world. As long as you're 'right on' and spew bile and hate re Ukip & the tories, it passes for comedy and guarantees you a very comfortable living courtesy of the licence payers.
No couch grass in my garden and I don't have a horse
Do like words though
Oh yes cazza, I enjoy Kevin Bridges also.
That's not humour Tony, that's fortitude
Does supporting Villa make us a clique? We need all the help we can get!
Caribeing that Sara Pascoe just been on the comedy gala I see what you mean trying to get jokes out of p.c.o is a no for me. That wildebeest sketch must be one of his finest
Why do female comedians always rely on their femininity as jokes? Don't they realise they're insulting their own gender?
