Yesterday, while watching a news video, I got a message saying I was using an add blocker and youtube no longer allows them
When I closed the dialogue the video did not resume.
My question (may be an obvious one), Will youtube not work for me until I disable the add blocker?
Or, next time I go to a video, will it work, but just disable it on that site (bypass it)

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.YT will not let you watch vids unless you disable your ad blocker..however theres ways around it but involves a bit of faffing and you may need to do it a couple of times a day.
You only need to disable blocking for YT and leave it activefor other sites.
I find Firefox and Ublockorigin to be the most releiable method as Ublock seems to update their filter lists daily at least.
FYI YT are about to be taken to court as it seems they inject without user permissions some java script onto peoples machines to detect the ad blockers which under current eureich data regs is not allowed....
IMO YouTube does not handle ads well. They interupt viewing with long ads multiple times, some uncancelable (and that occurs in addition to sponsor time deliberately inserted into the video by the channel owner). If YouTube were being reasonable they'd stop at simply have a still ad on a dedicated portion of the screen, but they are too keen to extract maximum profit at the cost of service provision. No wonder other hosting sites are getting better known.
