Baron Brian II was very obliging to step in at short notice to set the linkwords throughout the month of March. He and I go way back and we have a lot in common. My father was from Belfast and I spent most of my early life in that fair city. I made sure that I asked Brian to fill the gap for me only after he had visited most of the eleven hostelries in the village that he calls home! Once he had sobered up he went with the theme:“For Men with Oval Balls” and offered the following links words:
Touch WOOD
Game SHOW
Post OFFICE
Ball BEARING
Three of these links fell to the first half dozen entrants.
It was Christiana who guaranteed a smooth start with BALL BEARING for TWO POINTS and she was shortly followed by bunny boiler, paulineward, and her POST OFFICE for another TWO POINTS. Next came rockfordill with GAME SHOW and the game was well and truly off to a brisk start.
Quick to jump on the bandwagon were lysander and Jim for their Two Points. It is unusual for the men to out-point their partners and this applies to JimJools, pauline®, the Hewats and the Ont-ices ~ so “Well Done, Jim”! In the midst of all this came owllady swooping in to the Post Office as if on Ball Bearings to score a mighty FOUR POINTS and capture the title HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***
With only one more link word to find, the clock stood at 10.45 when Entrant #29 came on the scene as the very popular mirandasmum who claimed the last scalp with TOUCH WOOD and the very last helping of TWO POINTS was claimed. Thereafter, points were scored in singles and seven players made their presence felt.
Thank you Baron Brian ll & crofter, I am amazed to be top of the leader board after only one week especially as I scored absolutely nothing last month!!
Thanks Baron Brian and Crofter, although all my visits to Whites and The Crown in Belfast and various other drinking establishments in Co. Antrim last year didn't help me to get one point (but the beer was good!). Well done all the point scorers.
p.s. Pauline.....was the bunny well done also? ;-))
Well done Jim...and thanks to Crofter and the Baron.
Bunny was caught Saturday lunch time...by using female bunny as a trap. Typical male could not resist the charms of a woman!
