Jan 1957 - Just read your condolences to 4getmenot and (4getmenot my condolences too.) Please go and see your mother - you only have her for a short time in this life. I lost my mum when I was 33 - she was a wonderful character - very funny and witty and a great singer - I miss her even 25 years later -
you only have one mother
patient kind and true
no other friend in all the world will be as true to you.
I think thats right but the sentiment is there. Good luck Jan - you have been a good AB poster. xxx

Morning Connemara, that was good timing as I have just logged on. I do thank you for your advice and remember that old saying about mothers. Unfortunately in my case it is far from true! I am still thinking about whether to contact my mother and have decided that I am going to talk to the Manager of the home she is in to find out exactly how bad her health is. It's a bit more complicated than just my mother though as two sisters are involved too who did not even contact me when my husband died. I am still struggling with that and not sure I can cope with any more upset right now. Thank you for thinking of me. x
Lost my Mum on 17th October, she had Alzheimer's and it sucked out everything she was. She was a singer and played the piano - very theatrical! It was terrible!
then we had the cremation and the crem was full - all the children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and ex wives etc went. Plus U3A friends and neighbours. she would have loved it!
